Why are GIF file sizes so large?
GIF stores every frame as a full image with only 256 colors, so motion is expensive. Keep clips short, choose 480px width, and 12 fps — that combination keeps most GIFs shareable.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The GIF encoder runs in your browser as WebAssembly on your own CPU. Your clip never leaves the device.
How do I trim the GIF to a specific moment?
Under Advanced settings, set Trim start (seconds into the video) and Length (how many seconds to keep). Leave length empty to use the whole clip.
Why does the first conversion take longer?
The encoding engine (about 30 MB) downloads once per session and is cached afterward. Following conversions start immediately.
Which frame rate should I pick?
12 fps is the classic GIF rhythm and keeps files small. 15 fps feels smoother; 24 fps looks closest to video but roughly doubles the size versus 12.
